When we die and go to heaven, our maker is not going to say why didn’t you discover the cure for such and such?

The only thing we’re going to be asked at that precious moment is why didn’t you become you? -Elie Wiesel

Your past is not your potential

I’m learning who you’ve been ain’t who you’ve got to be… I ain’t as good as I’m gonna get but I’m better than I used to be. -Tim McGraw

There will always be important connections between the past, present, and future you—but you are the sum total of all you choose to become, not just all you have been. Sometimes all we see is how far we still have to go, instead of how far we have  already come. As a platform for designing your future, it’s enlightening and inspiring to make a list of things you have already attempted and accomplished—the things that you are most proud of in your life. As you look over the finished list, let the positive emotions flood over you. Remember and savor how good it felt to have overcome the obstacles, and to have finally achieved those things.

Then ask yourself, “Am I content to leave it at that?” And, if not, start turning your gaze toward, “Where do I go from here?”

List some of your proudest accomplishments.
