How will you give your gifts to the world?
Illuminate who you are, what you might be best-suited to accomplish in the world, and how you are different from those around you by taking personal inventory of your own talents, skills, know-how, and positive character traits.
You may need additional pages to complete your list, but the discovery is worth the work. “We are each gifted in a unique and important way,” wrote British artist Mary Dunbar. “It is our privilege and our adventure to discover our own special light.”
Once you’ve completed your list, stand back and ask yourself, “Which of my gifts am I actually developing and using for good—and which am I ignoring or wasting?”
We are all just skimming the surface of our true capacity. The process of actualizing our gifts and our potential is one of the most exciting and satisfying adventures of all.
Gifts and talents are what you’re born with (natural speed, perfect pitch, etc.)
Skills are something you’ve developed (martial arts, French cooking, etc.)
Education and experience are acquired (college degree, training, living in a foreign land, etc.)
Character traits are assists of the spirit (courage, optimism, grace under pressure, etc.)
