I am a wife, mother of three, and a native Texan. I like cooking, music, architecture, and design. I love my family more than anything in the world. I homeschool my children and I hope to instill in them my faith and a love for history and great literature. I have three dogs and a cat that are a huge part of my family. I want to live a full life and leave a legacy for my children.
I have always found adventure and fun in even the smallest of things. I chalk this up to an immense imagination. My heart is pulled toward great adventure. I spent my childhood dreaming of travel and adventure; of all the things that I was going to do when I ‘grew up’. I was inspired by great explorers, like Marco Polo and Lewis and Clarke and even, fictional characters, like Indiana Jones and James Bond. I watched epic adventure movies, like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Pirates of the Caribbean. I consumed an array of adventure stories by great authors; Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, Robert Louis Stevenson, Jules Verne. I had a book reading addiction to Nancy Drew; the mystery and adventure captured me. I got sent to the principal’s office in 6th grade for reading a book instead of reading my science lesson. I wanted to live a life of adventure and excitement.
I was born on the Texas-Mexico border. I spent a good amount of time exploring the border towns of Mexico with my family. As a teenager, my brothers, cousins, and I would cross the border and explore the towns alone (and without permission). We thought we were so cool. I remember crossing the Rio Grande by wooden raft and riding donkeys through a small border village. After we crossed back over, we rolled down the sandy slopes of the banks of the river and soaked in a natural hot spring. We were living it!
On my very first ‘official’ international expedition, I discovered a new sense of independence, touched history, connected with people, and experienced new cultures that changed the way I look at the world. I came home empowered, refreshed, and ready for something more. Since then, I’ve traveled to some incredible places and have knocked some big adventures and life altering experiences off my list. Travel reminds me what is truly important: family, friendship, exploration, and adventure.
I want to share my life-long passion for history, culture, adventure, and personal connection with others. I hope to inspire you to live a life you love and settle for nothing less than the extraordinary.
